Our friendly and knowledgeable guides will make your Whale Shark watching and swimming experience the highlight of your holiday. We love doing this, and we can’t wait to share this once-in-a-lifetime experience with you!

Your guide will pick you up at your hotel in either the Riviera Maya or Cancun, then we will take you to our location and pier where the boats are waiting for the adventure to begin!

Before embarking on this exhilarating experience, we’ll gather at the pier where we’ll provide you with a selection of snacks and refreshments, including coffee and tea, to start your day right. Once refreshed, we board our boat, and the journey begins. Look forward to a scenic speedboat ride lasting approximately two hours, taking you to the pristine waters where the Whale Sharks congregate. Prepare yourself for a truly memorable encounter with these gentle giants of the ocean!

Once we find the best spot to swim with Whale Sharks, we’ll get in the water and snorkel and swim with these majestic creatures.

Our goal is for you to have the opportunity to jump in the water with the whale sharks at least two times, but the exact number of jumps will depend on factors such as weather and sea conditions, as well as the range are of the whale sharks. With more than 15 years of experience, we know what we are doing, and we will give you a once-in-a-lifetime experience.

After swimming with the whale sharks, we’ll go snorkeling at another beautiful location, the coral reef in Isla Mujeres. Then, we’ll bring you to “Playa Norte” – ranked as one of the most beautiful beaches in the world – where we’ll have lunch, drinks, and fun. After enjoying Playa Norte, we’ll return to our pier in Cancun, and your guide and driver will bring you back to your hotel. The price for the photo package depends on the group size of your booking. For 2 persons the package is $66 USD and for 6 persons the package is $106 USD. Private Tours have different pricing depending on your group size  and tour.

Can I take my (underwater) camera to the excursion?

You are free to take your own photos or video on tour with us, but we ask, while snorkeling, that your equipment is attached to your body in one way or another, for example with a wrist band. We do however not advise that you take your phone in a waterproof case, because it is generally not possible to operate it whilst doing the activities. At all archeological sites non-professional cameras are permitted at no cost. Video cameras GoPro tablets and selfie sticks have a charge which is paid directly at the box office upon entry. The use of professional photography equipment is strictly prohibited - including tripods.

We do not take any responsibility of lost or damage photography gear that may happen on tour with us.

Reservations
Can I pay for a reservation in someone else’s name?

Yes. For your protection and security, we will request a copy of your identification and a copy of the credit card with which you made the payment. You can send this by email to info@oceantoursmexico.com or we will ask for it when you board our tour.

I think I made the payment, but I do not receive your confirmation. What should I do?

Usually, if confirmation does not arrive, first: Look first in your UNWANTED email folder (SPAM), if you do not find our confirmation in that folder, you probably have misplaced/misspelled your email. In this case, contact us and we will help you solve it.

What if the trip I have my heart set on is sold out?

Sometimes, it happens that our tours are sold out. Especially during high seasons and holidays. Just because a tour is sold out doesn’t mean you are out of options for taking the trip of your dreams. If we can make it happen, we will. Please call our Customer Service at +52 984 206 1444. They will try to accommodate your request or let you know about newly added departure dates that might work with your schedule.

What is your cancellation policy?

We understand that plans change. That’s why, when you book with us, you have the flexibility to change your travels and re-book when it suits you. Change or cancel your travel plans up to 24 hours before departure, with no fees.  Cancellation requests made within 24 hours of the departure date/time may not receive a refund.

Why should I book now?

We advise you to book our tours now as we have many requests! The number of participants in each excursion is limited. Discounts will only be available for early bookings.

Can I take a tour with a larger group than the website allows me to book at once?

All of our tours have their own limits when it comes to the number of people they can accommodate. If your group is larger than the allowed number on our website for a specific tour, please contact our customer service team to find a suitable option for your group. They will be able to help you arrange the perfect trip for your group, regardless of size.

Can I make a telephone reservation?

You can always phone us on any of the numbers given on our website to make a reservation; however, to guarantee your seats, you should pay 20% of the total cost of the reservation.

How can I pay?

We have various payment options:

You can pay for the service completely by Credit or debit card or

PayPal (This is very simple and only takes a minute).

You can also pay us only a 20% deposit to confirm your reservation. The balance due can be paid directly to our guide in cash (USD, MXN, EURO) or with a credit card.

None of these forms of payment will increase the total price, excepting possible charges by your own bank.

How do I know you are a legitimate company?

We have been in the business for more than 16 years. Thousands of people have now taken our excursions.

You can read the thousands of verified traveler reviews on our website, and on other 3rd party sites, like TripAdvisor, Google, Facebook. You can also just call us anytime and speak to one of our friendly members of staff!

15 Years of Experience operating Whale Shark Tour

We have over 15 years of experience in operating Whale Shark tours as Ocean Tours, starting way back in 2005. Because of this experience, we’ve developed the expertise, knowledge, and truly honed our craft of finding Whale Sharks when no one else can.

Best experience to Swim with the Whale Sharks!

We will make sure that you get the most out of this tour and have the best experience. Even if some days are difficult and the Whale Sharks aren’t as abundant in numbers, we’ll continue to do our best to swim enough times.

Best Snorkeling Gear

We provide only the highest quality snorkeling equipment, with a water-release valve in the snorkel that makes it much easier to expel any water that may enter. It also improves breathing, allowing you to jump in right away with the Whale Sharks, without being hindered by your equipment.

Get your Pictures with the Whale Sharks

We make sure our guides take their high-end GoPro camera in each boat, and you can purchase all pictures and HD videos taken with a GoPro camera during your tour. You also can take your own aquatic camera.

Our first concern is the total satisfaction of our clients!

Prescription Snorkeling Mask

If you wear glasses, we can provide you with a prescription snorkeling mask, at no extra cost, so you can properly see the Whale Sharks underwater. All you need to do is give us advance notice during the time of booking your tour with us!

Professional Guides

Our guides are enthusiastic, experienced, knowledgeable, safe, and most importantly, they love what they do! The whole team will make your tour an unforgettable experience.

Seasickness Prevention

We do everything possible to prevent seasickness from happening to our guests, which is why we offer three prevention methods FOR FREE, such as dramamine, ginger tea, and pressure point bracelets. Again, all prevention methods are free of any charge!

Small Groups whale shark

We only take small groups of clients with a maximum boat capacity of 10 people, so that we can create an environment that’s personalized & comfortable, giving you that “private tour feeling” without the “private tour price”.

Top-rated Whale Shark Tour Operator

Ocean Tours is the No. 1 Whale Shark tour operator & supplier in TripAdvisor in the entire Mayan Riviera, and we’re the only tour operator with a full 5-Star Rating and Certificate of Excellence with TripAdvisor.

Vegetarian Lunch

Upon request, we’re able to provide vegetarian options to our guests. You’ll be simply delighted! Featuring a delicious pasta salad with olive oil, fresh tomatoes and olives, served with guacamole, tortilla chips, and fruit. Our breakfast is also vegetarian.

We are the Tour Operator

Every service and every part of the tour is directly operated by Ocean Tours. This is why we’re able to guarantee excellent and high-quality service. Most of the web pages you see are simply selling tours as a middle-man, providing little to no guarantee of quality, safety, or assurance. Here, you buy directly from the tour operator.

We Care

We take three crew members on each boat to ensure all your needs are taken care of and to also ensure that you have the best experience: captain, sailor/guide, bilingual guide/photographer.

We go the Extra Mile

On every tour, our captain and guide are experienced in locating and spotting Turtles, Sailfish, Dolphins, and Manta Rays to make your experience even more amazing!

We guarantee that you swim with the Whale Sharks!

We provide a no-hassle 100% Guarantee to watch the Whale Sharks in Mexico. If you don’t see a single Shark on your tour, we'll gladly make a reschedule or get you a voucher valid for three years

We’ve developed the most complete Whale Shark tour, covering every need of our clients.
